Hello! You’ve reached the archive page for Gumball Poetry.
Gumball Poetry was a literary journal with a twist: We published into Capsule Machines (and on the web). The journal existed from approximately 1999 – 2006, 14 issues, and published many fantastic authors. It won two grants, and was featured in news media across the world. As far as I know, it was the first instance of a capsule machine dispensing art (Another great project at the time, ‘the Art-o-matic’, used cigarette machines). Browse through some of the issues in the internet’s Wayback Machine. Here’s our ‘about’ page.
Laura Moulton and I gave ourselves the titles of Editor and Publisher, respectively. And over time we had many interns, readers and volunteers, and for each issue we’d throw a large ‘stuffing party’, where we stuffed the poems into thousands of capsules. It was a lovely good time.
